Charles ‘Charlie’ Louis Stevens, 76, went to be with our Lord Friday, June 28th, 2024 in Decatur.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 8th, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3-5:00 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Dr. David Lowrie & Gerre Joiner will officiate. Pallbearers include Delvon Campbell, Rex Hoskins, Michael Dobyns, John Pellizzari, Tom Cain, and Bill Hogg.
Charles was born November 25th, 1947 to Clarence Austin and Geneva Geraldine (Newsom) Stevens in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was united in marriage December 28th, 1976 to Katie Marie Calhoun in Greenwood, Texas. Charles was a retired Department of Public Safety Corporal, after working for the Texas Highway Department, as well as being a police officer for both Azle and White Settlement. After retiring, he enjoyed tending to his herd of cattle, as well as being a lifelong University of Texas sports fan. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and sister-in-law, Bridgett Stevens.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Kristi Stevens of Allen, and Courtney Stevens of Decatur; his brother, Dwight Stevens of Azle; his sister, Darlene Tatum and husband Jerry of Azle; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
