Funeral service is 3 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gary Sessions officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 a.m. at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Charles was born March 28, 1927 in Corsicana, Texas to Abel Henry and Bessie Flora Brown Woodard. He graduated from Texas Weselyn College in Fort Worth with a masters in education. He retired from Birdville ISD after 31 years of teaching.
Charles was a dedicated teacher who wanted each one of his students to succeed. After his retirement, Charles opened his antique store, Charles' Antiques in Decatur and was in the antique business for over 30 years. He was deacon at Twin Oaks Assembly of God church.
Left behind to cherish his memory are nieces, Edna Sanders of Dimmitt, Texas, Jane McManus of Arlington, Texas; nephews, Luther Follis of Edgewood, Texas, Randy Follis of Aztec, New Mexico, Joe Woodard of Fort Worth; numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
