Charlotte Elaine (Ellis) Johnson

Chico ~ Charlotte “Meme” Elaine Johnson, 77, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

Charlotte was born June 4, 1945 to John Carl and Easter Elizabeth (Bass) Ellis in Dallas, Texas. She was united in marriage April 10, 1967 to Asa Wayne Johnson, Sr. in Carrollton, Texas. Charlotte was a member of Crafton Baptist Church and a beloved homemaker.

Additionally, Charlotte thoroughly enjoyed many activities that kept her physically active. From a young age, she had a great love for horses, earning herself a Champion buckle for the Texas Ranger Belles, and an induction into the All Cowboy & Arena Champions Hall of Fame. In her later years, she enjoyed a casual lope around the house, or simply leading her grandchildren around. Recently, she purchased a camper and was a frequent flyer of the Great Escapes RV Resort in Perrin, TX, as well as numerous other RV parks.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Her humor, laughter, orneriness, famous boxed brownies, and holiday ‘trash’ will be greatly missed.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Ellis; her husband, Asa Wayne Johnson, Sr.; and four sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Asa Johnson, Jr. and wife Amberly of Decatur, and Jon Johnson and wife Amber of Weatherford; her granddaughters, Stefani Garrison and husband Earl of Venus, and Jordan White and husband Trent of Decatur, Rylan Johnson of Weatherford, and Avery Anderson of Weatherford; her grandsons, Cody Johnson and wife Whitney of Weatherford, and A.J. Johnson of Elgin; five great grandchildren; her close companion Herschel Bragg of Wichita Falls; her brothers, John Ellis of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Carl Ellis of Gulfport, Mississippi; her sister, Illona Ellis; extended family members and a host of friends.

Visitation is scheduled for 5:30-8:00p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
