Cleo B. Bailey Hammonds

Bridgeport~ Cleo B. Bailey Hammonds, 101, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, March 21, 2021 in Decatur.

Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial in West Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Rev. Ron Lyons will officiate. Pallbearers are to include Anthony Shields, Thomas Canales, Tony Canales, J.D. Haselden, Cordell Swindell, and James Simpson.

Cleo was born on September 5, 1919 to James William and Estella Lorena (Whitsett) Bailey in Kiowa, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to David Forrest Hammonds on June 6, 1937 in Waurika, Oklahoma and together until his passing in March of 1982. Cleo was a housewife and a retired restaurant owner.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughters, Honey Dennis and Wanda Louise McCarty; her 6 siblings; her 1st grandchild, Kathy Louise Napier; her grandson; David Armstrong; and her 1st great-grandchild, Christy Michelle Napier.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Marjorie Hammonds Lane and husband Ronald of Bridgeport; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Claude Bailey of Chico; and her sister Linda Duke of Chico; and numerous extended family members.
