Cleta Joyce (Boyd) Emerson

Cleta Joyce Emerson, 92, of Highland Village, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

Graveside Service is 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2023 at Flat Rock Cemetery  in Audubon, Texas.

Gerre Joiner will officiate.

Cleta was born October 30, 1930 in Hillsboro, Texas. She was the daughter of Eva Shuler Boyd and Clem Eli Boyd. She graduated Alvord High School and attended Decatur Baptist College.

Cleta married Kenneth Durwood Emerson on December 12, 1946 and celebrated over 67 years of marriage at the time of his death in 2014.

She faithfully served as a pastor's wife in Byers, Texas; Wichita Falls, Texas; Frankfurt, Germany; Wichita, Kansas; and Arlington, Texas.  She loved to sing in the church choirs, lead Bible studies in Sunday School classes, and entertain their church families by cooking and serving all. Her family often fought over the first batch of her homemade dinner rolls at gatherings. Kenneth and Cleta retired after serving forty- eight years in ministry together and joined Lakeland Baptist Church in Lewisville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva and Clem Boyd; her 2 brothers- Otis Boyd and LC Boyd; her husband, Kenneth Durwood Emerson; her son, Ronald Lee Emerson; and niece, Debra Morgeson.

She is survived by her sister, Juanita Morgeson and husband Don; 2 sons- Kenneth Don Emerson and wife Rebecca of Iowa Park, Texas and Gary Alan Emerson and wife Sandra of Crafton, Texas; 8 grandchildren- Kenneth Faulkner and wife April; Jennifer Frost and husband Luke; Judson Emerson; Clarissa Mapes; Garren Emerson and wife Mary; Kaylee Emerson; Angela Homen and husband Greg; and Joyia Sifuentes and husband Anthony; and 13 great-grandchildren- Kendra Weston and husband Cody; Julie Faulkner; Grant Faulkner; Jakub Emerson; Aaron West; James Jones; Katelyn Frost; Caleb Frost; Emeree Sifuentes; Iris Emerson; Westley Homen; Clay Homen; and Hannah Homen.
