Decatur: Comello Modelle Coan, 96, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 in Decatur.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8th at the First Baptist Church in Decatur with Reverend Ken May officiating. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. at DeLeon Cemetery in DeLeon, Texas. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are John Wayne Shepherd, Clint Jackson Shepherd, Clayton Coan, Rich Coan, Cole Coan, West Coan, Austin Coan and Kevin Coan.
Modelle was born March 2, 1913 in Comyn, Texas to Oscar Oswald and LuNettie (Hazard) Blanton. She married S.W. Coan, Jr. in 1940 in Stephenville, Texas.
Left behind to cherish her memory are daughter, Priscilla Lou Shepherd of Fort Worth; three sons, Charles Coan and wife, Sandy of Portland, Texas, David Coan and wife, Dianne of El Campo, Texas, Richard Coan and wife, Karen of Bridgeport; 10 grandchildren, Deanna, Clay, Cara, John, Clint, Rich, Cole, West, Austin and Kevin; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Modelle is preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Dewey and Johnny Blanton; three sisters, Ozella Farris, Garnet Jones and Catherine Jenkins; and son-in-law, Wayne Shepherd.
