Rhome ~ Correne Layne Travis, 81, went to be with our Lord Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Rhome.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd with burial in Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends 12-2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pastor Jerry Hood will officiate. Pallbearers include Milton D. Travis Jr., Danny Lee Travis, Kenneth L. Travis Sr., Gary L. Allen, Milton D. Travis III, Caleb Travis, and Kenneth L. Travis Jr.
Correne was born October 20, 1935 to Delmon and Sarah (Varney) Layne in Edo, Kentucky. She was united in marriage to Milton Dewell Travis Sr. on October 10, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan. Correne was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton Travis Sr.; her daughter, Elesia Sanders; her son-in-law, Richard Sanders; and her grandson, Randy Collins.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Milton D. Travis Jr. of Aurora; her daughter, Teresia Allen and husband Gary of Whitesboro; her son, Danny Travis and wife Leticia of Grand Prairie; her son, Kenneth Travis Sr. of Aurora; her grandchildren, Milton D. Travis III, Sheena Travis, Kaleigh, Kasey, Daniel Allen, Angelia Allen, Dawn Correne Morrow, Jason Wilson, Joni Seery, Jamie Darlene Travis, Danny Lee Travis Jr., Adrian Zendajas, Luke Micheal Travis, Kenneth L. Travis Jr., Alicia Perry, and Walter Travis; her 37 great grandchildren; her 5 great-great grandchildren; her brother, Charles Layne and wife Mercedes of Florida; her sister, Deloris Phillips and husband Arnold of Michigan; along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
