Decatur ~ Curtis F. Anderson, 77, of Decatur went to be with his Lord Thursday, April 11, 2024 in Decatur, Texas surrounded by his wife and daughters.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, at the First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial in Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends, 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.  Bro. Gary Demmitt and Bro. William Brooks will be officiating.

Pallbearers include Reid Terrell, Tanner Meyer, Gage Terrell, Darrin Anderson, Ike Anderson, and Carson Abrams.

Curtis was born December 17, 1946 to Eddie George, Sr. and Dortha Lee (Shaw) Anderson in Decatur, Texas. He graduated from Alvord High School in 1965. Shortly after, PFC Anderson entered the Army in April of 1966 with the 9th Military Police Company as part of the 9th Infantry Division and served in that capacity in Vietnam. On July 12, 1968 he married the love of his life Margaret Chancellor in Decatur, Texas. Curtis retired after 35 years of service from T.U. Electric where he was a lineman.

Curtis was a loving husband, Dad, Father-in-law, and Pa to his girls, son-in-laws, and three grandsons. He was not a man for lengthy conversation, but he had the biggest heart and never met a kid he didn’t connect with. He was one of a kind with a one sided smile and a twinkling roll of his eyes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Sammy Frank Anderson.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Margaret Anderson of Decatur; daughters, Jennifer Terrell and husband Steven of Decatur, and Jacquelyn “JJ” Meyer and husband Tim of Decatur; 3 grandsons, Reid Terrell, Tanner Meyer, and Gage Terrell; brother, Eddie George Anderson Jr. and wife Patti of Arkansas; sister, Nancy Abrams and husband Gary of Louisiana; sister-in-laws, Peggy Anderson of Kerens, Texas and Estelle Watts and husband Bobby of Decatur; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and a host of friends.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
