Alvord: Curtis Edward Simms, 76, of Alvord went to be with our Lord on Saturday, October 31, 2009 in Decatur.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 4th at First Baptist Church in Alvord with Reverend Bill Cleveland officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Curtis was born February 14, 1933 in Dennison, Texas to Walter Clyde and Grethal Bell (Curtis) Simms. Curtis married Mary Beth Greenwood on October 14, 1970 in Waurike, Oklahoma. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades and was deacon of the First Baptist Church of Alvord.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Mary Beth Simms of Alvord; daughter, Cheryl Barnum and husband, P.T. of Dallas; stepdaughter, Brenda Drevicky and husband, John of Farmer's Branch; sister, Bernice Pierce of Waco; three grandsons, Calen, Stephen, David; grand daughter, Rhiannon.

Curtis is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cleo and Gordy Simms; sister, Lois; Stepdad, R.M. Thomas.
