Decatur: D. W. "Slick" Farley, 71, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, October 23 2008 in Decatur.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday, October 25th at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Therrol Dubois officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Turkey Cemetery in Turkey, Texas. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are David Walker, Warren Sosa, Chuck Bridges, James Williams, Steve Sosa, Craig Jackson, Josh Perkins and Jay Higgs. Honorary pallbearers are Phil Ryan, Clyde Ding, Ron Watson and Robert Rankin.
Slick was born August 15, 1937 in Farmersville, Texas to Wesley Waymon and Celesta Laura (Pell) Farley. He resided in Lubbock where he was an owner of Great Plains Steel. He moved to Wise County in 1986 and began working for Perkins Construction. Slick began Farley Electric in January, 2002.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Deanne Moyers and husband, Ricky of Lubbock, Texas and Kecia McFarland and husband, Rick of Jacksboro; son, John Farley of Paradise; nephew, S. R. Perkins of Decatur; nine grandchildren, Mandy, Amber, Jamie, Whitney, Nessa, Tray, Mattie, Kegan, and Kenzie; four great grandchildren; childhood sweetheart, Dottie Spain of Decatur; dear friend Pennye Shockey of Rhome; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Slick is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and one brother.
