Alvord: Damon Pennington, 89, of Alvord, went to be with our Lord, May 29, 2010 in Decatur.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church of Alvord with Reverends Sam Campbell and Ed Cherryholmes officiating. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include May Holloway, Charlie French, Tom Robinson, Monty Nivens, Bennie Nivens and Eddy Goodwin. Honorary pallbearers include Billy Spain, Willard Howell, Pat Goodger, James Reasoner, Edwin Gee and Dave Miles.
Damon was born September 29, 1927 in Sunset, Texas to Walter Virgel and Cora Magness Pennington. He was a farmer and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Alvord. Damon married Evalyn "Lou" Webb on December 22, 1951 and she preceded him in death in October 1978. He married Mattye Sutherland Sisk on November 7, 1980 and was married 22 years at her death on November 19, 2002.
Left behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Suzette Munson and husband, Doug of Alvord; Kay Hardy and husband, John of Houston; Linda Schroder and husband, Roland of San Antonio, Sandra Smith and husband, Gary of Abilene, Sue Lymberopolus and husband, David of Houston; son, Bill Sisk and wife, Alana of Houston; brothers, Geary Washburn of Decatur, Bobby and Harold Lee Washburn of Fort Worth; 16 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
