David Lee Johnson

October 11, 1931 — March 23, 2014

Decatur ~ David Lee Johnson, 82, a plant regional manager, went to be with our Lord Sunday, March 23, 2014 in Decatur.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 in Clines Prairie Cemetery in Huntsville. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service at the church.

Rev. Gerre Joiner and Dr. Wm Lewis will officiate. Pallbearers include Austin Lester, Garrett Johnson, Nick Martin, Alec Johnson, Stan Shults, and J.P. Flynt. Honorary pallbearers are the First Baptist Church Adult 6 Men’s Class.

David was born on October 11, 1931 to Morris and Ida (Dugat) Johnson in Liberty, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. David was united in marriage to Eula Flynt on June 2, 1955 in Baytown, Texas. He was a chemical engineer for Oxidental for 37 years before they changed to Western Gas Resources and he worked there for 4 more years. David was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jason Johnson.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Eula Johnson of Decatur; his children, Judy Wilbanks and husband Danny of Longview, Wayne Johnson and wife Michelle of Houston, DeAnne Martin and husband Craig of Decatur, Joyce Robinson and husband Chris of Argyle; his grandchildren, Austin Lester, Lindsey Lester, Garrett Johnson and wife Mary, Robin Johnson, Stevie Martin, Hannah Martin, Nick Martin and Hannah Griffith, Henry Robinson, Jacob Robinson, Ben Robinson, Molly Robinson and Alec Johnson; his great grandson, Braxton Martin; his brothers-in-law, Bill Flynt and John Flynt and wife Ellen; his nephews, Paul Flynt, Allen Flynt, and Gary Flynt; his nieces, Mary Phelps and Carol Flynt; other family members and a host of friends.
