Fort Worth ~ David Tackel, 72, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in Azle.
Funeral is 2 PM Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial at Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
David was born on January 23, 1951 to William and Ellon Faye (Kaker) Tackel in Bridgeport. He was united in marriage to Carol McClendon on July 30, 1977 in Wise County.
David worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 10 years prior to his employment at Laser Boats. With Laser, he built world class, championship race boats used all over the world, including the prestigious St. Louis Gran Prix.
David later worked for Bell Helicopter, where he took great pride that the helicopters he built were used by our military and first responders. He worked with Bell for 27 years before retiring.
David was a beloved husband, father, uncle, brother, and a friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Ronnie Tackel.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Carol Tackel; his son, Matt Tackel and wife Amy; his niece, Jami McClendon-Burns and husband Brian and children, Noah Jack and Olivia; his brothers, Bill Tackel and Clinton Tackel and wife Donna; his sister, Sherri Stockton and husband Mike; his special friends, Gary Pegues, Biscuit, Rodney and Toby; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
