Decatur~ David H. Oates, 77, went to be with our Lord on Friday April 15, 2022 in Decatur.
Funeral Service will be 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial to follow in Pleasant Grove #1 Cemetery. Family will receive friends 2:00-4:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Dr. Bill Hughes to officiate. Pallbearers are to include, Bryan Tipton, Houston Oates, Wendal Bridges, Stetson Oates, David Shannon, D.B. Read, Jared Rogers, and Pat Oates. Honorary Bearers will be, Jim Lambert, Donald Etter, Jimmy Etter, Paul Kelly, Gerald Oates, Gaylon Oates, Bob Hudson and Tana Souvanna.
David was born on November 7, 1944 to Paul “Red” and Leona Elizabeth (Taylor) Oates in Decatur, Texas. He was a veteran and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver and worked for Sprint Telecom. He was united in marriage to Carol Ann Rudock on September 26, 1983 in Denton, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Norma Jean Bridges; his step-sons, Jeremy Arnold and Shane Arnold.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol Ann Oates of Decatur; his son, David Wayne Oates of Mexico; his sister, Mabel Lee Henry of Ft. Worth; his brother, Jerry Paul Oates and wife Lori of Paradise; his mother-in-law, Nancy Carol Posten and husband James of Montrose, PA.; his sisters-in-law, Suzette Hillis and husband Randy, Kathleen King and Cheryl Brozetti; numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends.
