Donald Hugh Montford

Bridgeport ~ Donald Montford, 83, a retired heavy equipment operator, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Rev. Gary Dimmitt and Bro. Jimmy Don Taylor will officiate. Pallbearers include Robert Shawn, Colby Shawn, Jason Shawn, Mark Jordan, Jarrod Montford, and Clayton Byrd.
Donald was born on March 12, 1931 to John and Ruth (Bevill) Montford in Bridgeport, Texas. He was united in marriage to Verda Mae Kelley on March 17, 1951 in Bridgeport. Donald was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Donna Sue Byrd; and his grandson, Donald Lee “Chief” Money.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Verda Mae Montford of Bridgeport; his son, David Montford and wife Beth of Bridgeport; his daughter, Judy Money and husband James of Bridgeport; his grandchildren, Katie Whaley and husband Brian, Samantha Russell and husband William, Jarrod Montford, Jodi Money, Clayton Byrd and wife Mary Beth; his great-grandchildren, J.J. Prock, Nikki Minor, and Brennen Whaley; other family members and a host of friends.
