After settling in Texas, he began his lifetime professional career in the grain industry. He and his loving wife of 54 years, Melva, were married in Fort Worth, Texas on August 14, 1949. They lived in Fort Worth and Port Arthur, Texas, finally enjoying retirement years in Alvord, where Don spent countless hours enjoying his hobby of woodworking.
FUNERAL: Services will be at the First United Methodist Church in Alvord, Tuesday, October 9th at 11:00 am. Reverend Carroll Caddell will officiate. Burial will follow in Alvord Cemetery.
Family visitation will be Monday October 8th from 6:00- 8:00 pm at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home, Decatur, Texas.

SURVIVORS: Don is survived by his sons, Kenneth Eason and wife, Shirley, of Irving and Mark and wife, DeLayne of Midland; granddaughters Shelly Groves and husband Todd of Dallas, Erin Wellen of Washington, D.C., Blair Wellen of Austin, and Emma Wellen of Midland; and great-granddaughters Natalie and Claire Groves of Dallas; his brothers Melvin Wellen of Des Moines, Iowa, Bill Colwell of Altoona, Iowa and sister Maxine Gray of Grand Saline.
Preceding him in Death were his father and mother and wife, Melva Doyce Wellen; Brothers Fred Wellen and Bob Wellen; and a granddaughter, Karen Eason.
