Donny Gillespie

Bridgeport ~ Donny Gillespie, 62, an automotive mechanic and truck driver, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in Bridgeport.

Funeral is 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at DFW National Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Donny was born on August 3, 1955 to Charlie and Juanite (Dowdy) Gillespie in Paris, Arkansas. He was the grandson of Grover and Pearl Dowdy. Donny also proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an aviation mechanic on board the USS Kitty Hawk. While in the Navy he completed aviation fleet preparatory A school and also received a National Defense Service Medal.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lori Dawn Moore of Hackett, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Ricky Phelps of Greenwood, Arkansas and Kaleb Martin of Greenwood, Arkansas; his uncle, R.T. Gillespie; his good friend Bucky Carpenter and wife Eddi; and a host of friends.
