Doris Lula (Hays) Autry

Boyd ~ Lula Doris Autry, 88, a retired librarian, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, October 17, 2018, in Bridgeport.

Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2018, at First Baptist Church Boyd with burial in Friendship Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Dr. Billy McClain will officiate and pallbearers include Brandon Autry, Justin Bowden, Willie Haak, Matt Jackson, Mike Riley, and Chad Byford.

Doris was born September 12, 1930, to Samuel and Bessie (Loafman) Hays in Poolville.  She was united in marriage to Carl C. Autry Jr. on March 26, 1948, in Boyd. They were married 54 years until his passing in 2002. Doris was a member of First Baptist Church Boyd, Eastern Star, and Texas Library Association. After retiring from Lockheed Martin after 33 years, she then worked as a librarian.  She taught Sunday School at Friendship Baptist Church for over 20 years and where she was also the Treasurer for over 40 years.  Doris served as a pianist at Friendship Baptist Church and then Victory Baptist Church in Park Springs for a total of 65 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Rev. Mark Autry and wife Julie of Boyd; her grandchildren, Brandon Autry and wife Ashley of Boyd, Crystal Bowden and husband Justin of Granbury, and Paige Haak and husband Willie of Poteet; her great-grandchildren, Preslee , Payton, Bryson, Reagan, Davee, Malachi, Jayden, and Lucy; her sister, Joyce West; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
