Doris Ann Mote, 88, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord on August 30, 2008, in Decatur.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur with the Reverend Johnny Irish officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Pallbearers were Larry Bridgefarmer, Rex Daniels, James Dixon, Derry Dodson, Jean McCutchin and Brock Smith.
Doris was born on September 8, 1919, in Nocona to Calvin and Nell Jordan Dodson. She married Hiram Mote on February 20, 1943, in Decatur. She graduated from Southern Methodist University with a bachelor's in English and Spanish, was a member of the United Methodist Women, as well as the local Main Street Program.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Mote; son, Robert Mote; grandson, Robert Mote; sister, Dorcas Bellamy; and brother, Ralph Jordan Dodson.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her two sons, Phil Mote of Dallas and Richard Dodson Mote of Rhome; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
The family request that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Decatur, 104 S. Miller, Decatur, Texas or to Solaris Hospice, 2250 S. FM 51, Decatur, Texas.
