Doris Dean Wood

Dublin~ Doris Wood left this earth on Monday, May 3, 2021. She was born on January 23, 1930, in Deport, the fourth child of seven born to Troy and Minnie Smith. Doris and her family moved to Riverside, California in 1941 where she attended and graduated from Riverside High School in 1946. In that same year, she met L.H. Wood, who she married in April of 1946. L.H. and Doris moved to Lubbock in 1948 where they began their venture into the drywall construction business. Their construction business took them across several states where they were able to provide employment to hundreds and allowing them to impact the lives of thousands. Doris served as a mother figure to any individuals who needed her support and guidance.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.H. Wood; and her sons, Donald and Bobby Dean Wood.

She is survived by her sons, Lewie Wood and wife Janie, of San Angelo, and Kobie Wood and wife Paula, of Dublin; her daughter Melba Weatherly and husband Tommy of Paradise; her daughter-in-law, Christine Wood of Houston; her grandchildren, Shayde Wood and wife Rebecca of Weatherford, Kendell Black and husband, Wade of Yancey, Winston Wood and wife Tria, of Houston, T.J. Weatherly and wife, Julie of College Station, Brady Weatherly of Bryan, Lane Wood of Stephenville, and Marley Wood of Weatherford; her great-grandchildren, Tate Wood of Farmersville, Eliot Wood of Houston, Kaleb Blake of Yancey, and Levi Weatherly of College Station.
