Denton: Dorothy Jean Bunnell Ray, 81, a retired middle school teacher, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in Corinth.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24th at First Baptist Church of Paradise with Rev. Chris Shelton officiating. Interment: Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Shaun Ray, Shane Ray, Cody Leake, Derek Ray, Kristen Brasher, Kyle Ray, Ty Boyer, Carlton Leake, Brandi Ray, Alex Ray, Lauren Rushton and Halle Brecht.
Dorothy was born May 14, 1932 in Decatur, Texas to Herman and Nettie (James) Bunnell. She was united in marriage to Hubert Ray and was married 62 years at his death in December 2012. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harold Bunnell.
Dorothy graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and received her Master's from the University of North Texas. She retired from Decatur ISD in 2000 after 26 years of teaching.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her three sons, Ronald Ray of Denton, David L. Ray and wife Karen and Richard Ray and wife Rebecca both of Denton; two daughters, Pam Leake and husband Ray of Denton and Kim Brecht and husband Chris of Krum; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Bunnell of San Angelo; sister, Carolyn Shelton of Haltom City; and uncle, Gordon James and wife Marie of North Richland Hills; other family members and a host of friends.
