Briar ~ Dorothy Mae Walling, 91, a retired owner and operator of a convenience store went to be with our Lord Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in Decatur.
Graveside service is 10 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at New Hope Cemetery in Azle. Rev. Jimmy Withers will officiate. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.
Dorothy was born on March 16, 1920 to James and Cora (Lightfoot) Heffington in Kemp, Texas. She was married to J.V. Walling, Jr. in Oklahoma. Dorothy was a member of the Eastern Star. Family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Order of the Eastern Star, 570 S. Hitt Street, Boyd, Texas 76023.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1996; her granddaughter, Kathleen Walling; and her brother, Durwood Heffington.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, James Walling and wife Lana of Briar; her grandchildren, Tracey Buckingham and husband Britt of Auburn, Alabama and Deborah Manson and husband Todd of Locust Grove, Georgia; her great grandchildren, Anna, Maddie and Ethan; her brothers, Ted Wagner and Jessie Wagner.
