Boyd ~ Doug Cooper, 83, went to be with our Lord Friday, November 11, 2022 in Decatur.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Boyd with burial in Boyd Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Reverends Ricky Harrison and Scott Anthony will officiate. Pallbearers will include Brad Cooper, Dusty Cooper, Dalton Cooper, Matt Thompson, Hunter Bell, and Perry Hicks.
Douglas Leo Cooper was born April 10, 1939 in Snyder, Texas to Roy and Mabel (Conroe) Cooper. Doug graduated from Boyd High School in 1957, and later served in the U.S. Army for two years. He married Lorenella Hood in 1961. Doug worked for Freightmaster for several years and afterward was one of the first employees for Miller Brewing Company in Fort Worth, retiring after 32 years.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy Charles; and sister, Janell Smith.
Survived by his wife, Lorenella Cooper; his sons, James Douglas Cooper and wife Birdie of Cleburne and Chad Cooper and wife Susan of Boyd; three grandsons, Brad, Dusty, and Dalton; five great-grand-daughters, Kloe, Brayley, Karter, Addie, and Emma; dear family friend, Sue Wallace; and a host of additional family and friends.
