Bridgeport ~ Doug Whitehead, 73, a lawman, went to be with our Lord Sunday, July 31, 2016 in Fort Worth.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Decatur with burial in Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Phil Ryan, David Walker, and Lane Akin will be speakers.  Pallbearers include Mike Neagle, Barney Graham, Randy Eyster, Steven Yancy, Wes Hughes, Justin Hunter, Liberty Houston, Steve Stanford, Todd Low, and Horce Langford. Honorary pallbearers include David Walker, Tony Rogers, Randy Singleton, Galen Wiley, Cabin Riggs, John Thompson, Cecil Willis, Anthony Peacock, Jason Evans, Rex Johnson, and Scott Stanford.

Doug was born on July 1, 1943 to Dan and Sherry (Brown) Whitehead in Mineral Wells. He was united in marriage to Beverly Tindel in 1962 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Doug had many achievements thru his life. He was a policeman, taught Criminal Justice, member of City Council in Bridgeport and Chico, and Director of Public Works for City of Bridgeport. Doug was also a former City Administrator for Bridgeport, Chief Deputy of Wise County, involved in Wise County Drug Task Force, was the lead investigator in the Ricky Lee Green serial killer case, Jail Administrator, Constable, and Criminal Investigator. He also was a cattle rancher and a Security Coordinator for Hanson, Martin Marrietta, and TXI.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Sherry Lynn Dale.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Beverly Whitehead; his daughters, Kim Evans and husband Jay of Lake Bridgeport and Keilly Johnson and husband Rex of Chico; his grandchildren, Kristyl Evans, Jason Evans, Haley Evans, Mason Evans, and Ethyn Johnson; his great grandchildren, Brilee, Makenna, and Kinley; his sister, Dana Whitehead Riggs of Dallas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of friends.
