PARADISE -- Douglas Keith Messick, 77, a retired fleet services crew chief for American Airlines, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, in Paradise. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Saturday at The French Cemetery in Louisiana. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Douglas served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alvord, and a member of the Chico VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 grandchildren: Heather Messick and Ben Thopmpson; and a brother: J.M. Messick.
Survivors: Daughter, Debra Thomasson; sons, Jerry Thompson and Bruce and James Messick; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronny Messick; and sister, Sharon Messick.
