Decatur ~ Rev. Doyle Ray Slimp, 81, a retired minister, went to be with our Lord Monday, June 5, 2017 in Fort Worth.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 at First Baptist Church with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior at the Church.

R ev. Clyde Harold Slimp, Rev. Ray Cobb, and Rev. Eddie Milligan will officiate. Pallbearers include Dewayne Taylor, Tony Salinas, Leon Dethloff, Alvin Dethloff, Terry Long, Milton Andress, Robert, Terry Wages, Charlie Reynolds, and Billy McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers are Allen Dethloff, Chris Dethloff, Kelton Dethloff, Kendall Dethloff, Brandon Graybill, Steve Hunt, Mike Jackson, Robert Lang, Keith Long, Billy McDaniel, coy Henry O'neal, Billy Paddock, Johnny Paddock, Dustin Pinkerton, Charlie Reynolds, David Slimp, and Bud Smith.

Doyle was born on April 28, 1936 to Shade and Dovie (Lambert) Slimp in Rhome, Texas. He was united in marriage to Martha Sue Taylor on June 8, 1956 in Decatur. Doyle was a retired minister for over 40 years and also retired machinist for Bell Helicopter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Wayne Slimp and James Slimp; his sister, Elaine Andress.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Sue Slimp of Decatur; his son, Rick Slimp and wife Karen of Decatur; his grandchildren, Jeremy Slimp of Decatur, Eric Slimp and wife Samantha of Fort Worth, and Kayla Slimp of Dallas; his great grandchildren, Kaidan, Marcie of Decatur, and Madelyn Slimp of Fort Worth; his brother, Clyde Slimp and wife Patsy of Decatur; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
