Graveside service is 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Oaklawn Cemetery with a reception after the service at the Decatur Civic Center.
Dr. Green was born in Decatur, Texas, January 16, 1922 and graduated from high school with the Class of 1939 at Decatur High School. He married Frances Allene "Bo" Slaton of Electra, Texas in 1941. He received his professional degree from the College of Dentistry, Baylor University in 1945. Paul served in the United States Army Air Corps before establishing his dental practice in Electra, Texas in 1946. Bo and Paul raised three children in Electra and San Antonio, Texas: Celia Green Carroll and husband, Larry, Joe Alan Green and wife, Judy, and Paula Green Wallace and husband, Robert. Bo was librarian at Pat Neff Middle School for 27 years, retiring in 1987.
Bo preceded him in death in 2005. In 2007, Paul moved to Hickory Valley to live with daughter Paula and her husband, Bob.
Paul is also survived by his sister, Sister Lucy Marie Green, a nun at Our Lady of the Lake Convent in San Antonio, Texas, five grandchildren, Joe Paul Green of Kyle, Texas, JoAnna Frazar of Bellevue Washington, Bryan Wallace of Oakland, Michael Wallace of Collierville, and Leslie Carroll of San Francisco, California. Paul's five great-grandchildren are Grant, Luke and Grace Wallace of Collierville and Brett and Courtney Green of Kyle, Texas. His second sister, Mary Ann Jones and husband, J.B. of Irving, Texas passed away in 2005.
Although Paul loved his Texas origins, he found joy in the Tennessee countryside with his neighbors and church friends in Bolivar and Hickory Valley.
