BOYD ~ Dr. Robert D. Worley 73, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Boyd went to be with our Lord Sept. 20, 2009 in Boyd. His wife of 52 years, Jerry H. Worley, 74, a missionary, made the journey with him the following day in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 2 PM Friday at Aurora Baptist Church in Aurora, Burial: Boyd Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 PM Thursday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd, Texas.
The Rev. Randall Worley and the Rev. Mike Torres to officiate. Pallbeares: Ray Gilbert, Bill Smith, Audie Phillips, Lee Waldrop, Jerry Payne, Joe Hatley, Scotty Redmon, John Moore, Logan Moore, Wesley Moss, Mike Willbanks, David Hatley, Robert Worley, Jr., Reuben Worley, Randall Worley and Mike Torres. Honorary Pallbearers: Larry McBride, Warren Saulter, R.H. Moss, Bill Marcum, David Van Hatley and Buddy Hatley.
Robert Donald Worley was born July 3, 1936 to Willie and Lottie Capp Worley in Floyd, New Mexico. Jerry Helen Fletcher was born August 10, 1935 to Carney and Halley Gatlin Fletcher in Greenville, Texas.
Dr. Worley received his Doctorate from Baylor Baptist College in Waco and was a member of the Baylor Alumni Association. Mrs. Worley received her Masters of Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
Dr. and Mrs. Worley were married December 20, 1957 in Dallas, Texas. They both served 33 years in the mission field in Spain and Bosnia before returning to America and continuing their ministry at Trinity Baptist Church in Boyd.
Dr. Worley was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Truett, Ladson and Rogene Worley. Mrs. Worley was preceded in death by her sister, Carmen Ella Davison.
Those left behind to cherish their memory are 3 sons; Dr. Robert Worley Jr. and his wife Maria Duarte of Temple, Reuben Worley and his wife Jacqueline of Plano, Rev. Randall Worley and his wife Eli of Crowley; their daughter, Rachel and her husband, Rev. Mike Torres of Barcelona Spain; 10 grandchildren, Debora, Naomi, Victor, Elena, Joel, Timothy, Beth and Caleb Worley, Kirsten and Sabrina Torres, their great granddaughter, Maryn Thomas; Robert's sister, Freda Smith of Fresno,California and his brother, A.T. Worley of Casa Grande ,Arizona; Jerry's sister, Nicki Belle Fletcher of Duncanville; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
