DECATUR -- Dr. Wayne E. Williamson, 85, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008 in Decatur.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers include Forest Benjamin Williamson, Jacob Andrew Williamson, Richard Brown, Monte Shaw, Lester Dogett, Bill Spain, Dr. Kelley Tibbels, and Jeff Williamson.

Wayne was born on December 2, 1922 to Raymond Travis and Tempe (Barker) Williamson. He married Tommye Geneva Lane on May 19, 1946 in San Angelo, Texas. They were happily married for 58 years till her passing in 2004. He was a proud veteran who served honorably in World War II. Dr. Williamson was the primary optometrist of Wise County for 38 years, a longtime member of the Decatur Lions Club and Decatur Country Club. He was a charter member and longtime elder of the Westworth Church of Christ in Fort Worth. The last 15 years of his life were devoted to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Left Behind to cherish his memory is a daughter, Lisa Williamson of Decatur; son, Dr. Gary Wayne Williamson and wife Anne of Athens; 4 grandchildren, Sarah Rebecca Chirakadze, Forest Benjamin Williamson, Jacob Andrew Williamson, and Brooke Elizabeth Blaylock; 8 great-grandchildren, Colby, Matison, Dylan, Carlie, Alex, Andrew, Abbie, and Gracie; mother, Bernice Fish Williamson; 2 brothers, Raymond "Frog" Williamson, and Ronald Travis Williamson; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
