Dr. William E. Huddleston

Bridgeport ~ Dr. William E. Huddleston, 82, a retired family practitioner, went to be with our Lord Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 surrounded by his family at his home in Bridgeport.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport. Burial to follow with Masonic rites in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family to receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

The Reverends Johnny Irish and Dana Coker to officiate. Pallbearers: Kevin Huddleston, Kelly Huddleston, Eugene Maggioncalda, Thomas Huddleston, Patrick Huddleston, Earl Green, Travis Findley and Concepcion Ramirez.

Born Aug. 25, 1928 to William and Cecil Huddleston in Batesville, AR. He graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 1949 and went on to Arkansas Medical School where he graduated with his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1953. On Sept. 7, 1953, he married Polly Coffman in Batesville, AR. He served his internship at Missouri Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph, MO.

Dr. Huddleston attended the School of Aviation Medicine at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio where he graduated with a degree in Aviation Medicine. He earned the rank of Captain and was then stationed at Sheppard Air Force base in Wichita Falls. He continued as a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and the American Legion.

Dr. Huddleston, Polly, and son Kevin moved to Bridgeport in June 1957. Dr. Huddleston joined the medical practice at Bridgeport Clinic where he continued until his retirement in 1999. He was board certified in Family Practice, passing the exam at the first sitting. Dr. Huddleston was also an Aviation Medical Examiner performing all classes of flight physicals.

Dr. Huddleston was a devoted city councilman for the city of Bridgeport for 24 years and was also the former Mayor. He received the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce President
