A celebration of her life will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9 at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born on October 31, 1915 to Dannie Rebecca (Brewer) and Felix Johnson England. She married Lomer Hill on November 25, 1939 in Denton, Texas at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Theron J. Fouts. For most of her life, Marie resided in Decatur, Texas where she was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church and a charter member of the Decatur Quilting Club. In 2000, she moved into Meadow Lakes Retirement Community in North Richland Hills, and recently to The Good Place, an assisted living community.
Those who mourn her passing will always remember her gentle spirit and quiet humor. She is survived by a son, Dwayne Hill and wife Peggy of Wichita Falls; daughter, Sandra Hill and husband Reg of Bedford, Texas; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Nina Robinson and Fern Mann of Decatur; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, her sister, Alma Allen, and her brother, Joe England as well as 2 grandsons.
The family extends sincere thanks to Grace Hospice and its staff for their excellent care throughout the last months of Marie's life.
