Edward was born on November 9, 1940 to Thomas and Laura (Tubens) Garcia in New York City. He was united in marriage to Marisa Emerson on April 21, 1982 in El Paso. Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, the American Hunting Association, and the American Veterans Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Marisa Garcia of Bridgeport; his sisters, Gloria Lancaster of Florida, Hilda Cobo of North Carolina, Frances Lazaration of Florida; his brother, Thomas Garcia and wife Pat of Sunset; his nephew, Thomas E. Garcia of California; his sisters-in-law, Leala Davis and husband Tom of Yuma, Arizona, Rachel Gasperson and husband Bob of Bridgeport; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
