Alvord: Edward Lowell Schmalried, 94, a farmer/rancher, went to be with our Lord, Monday, October 28, 2013 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 30th at the First Baptist Church of Alvord with Rev. Bill Cleveland officiating. Graveside service is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Emerald Hills Cemetery in Kennedale, Texas. Family will receive friends 9-10 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers include Vic Czerniak, James Sullivan, David Goodwin, Melton Neighbors, Larry Nivens, and Jack Garrison.
Edward was born December 11, 1918 in New Ulm, Texas to Fritz and Minnie Rhine (Heart) Schmalried. He was united in marriage to Oneita Erin Gillentine on July 7, 1941. Edward served in the United State Army during WWII.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 72 years, Oneita Schmalried of Alvord; two brothers, Durwood Schmalried of California and Frank Schmalried of Boyd; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
