Funeral: 4 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Burial: Wilson Prairie Cemetery. Visitation: 3-4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Officiating: Bro. Ray Cook, Jr. and Bro. Joe Richardson. Pallbearers: Eddie Houchins, Jim Pewitt, Leon Dethloff, Billy Boone, RobertStanfield, and Kenneth Daughtery.
Mr. Houchins was born in Bridgeport, Texas to Henry and Ovilia (Brown) Houchins. He married Edith Maurine Doggett on June 23, 1956. He worked at Swift Packing Company for some 20 odd years. When Swift sold out in about 1960, they sent him to barber school. In 1978, Mr. Houchins donated the land for the Carpenter Street Church of Christ.
Survivors: his wife of 50 years, Maurine Houchins of Bridgeport; numerous nieces and nephews; and a wonderful church family.
