Elizabeth was born on October 18, 1929 to Benjamin and Lily (Verisiki) Hoppie in Bridgeport. She married Dean Wingate on March 8, 1950 in Oklahoma. Liz worked many years at Trammel's Village Restaurant where she enjoyed meeting people and lovingly served her guests.
Liz was affectionately known as mama and grandma. She loved quilting, embroidery, and collecting dolls and salt and pepper shakers. Cooking was one of her favorite hobbies. She could be found in the kitchen making her meals from scratch. When she cooked, she made sure there was enough for everyone and anyone else who might show up. While Liz was a petite little lady, she had the heart of a giant! Her family and friends were the most important things in her life. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed having them visit. She loved playing dominoes and other games with her family. Liz was such a treasure to everyone she met. You couldn't help but love such a remarkable woman. Liz truly was a little piece of Heaven here on earth and now she is a beautiful angel in the arms of God.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean Wingate; her son, Melton Wingate; her 2 brothers and her 3 sisters.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Gladys Kay Harris and husband Eldridge of Fort Worth and Joyce Diane Wilson and husband Arnold of Azle; her grandchildren, Jennifer Luna and husband Arnulfo of Azle, Rusti Wingate and wife Lindsay of Azle, Jessica Kolar and husband Jake of Azle, Julia Harris and Seth Harris of Fort Worth, and Rowdy Wilson of Azle; her great grandchildren, Jordan, Payton, Tristen, Ryder, Boston, and Kearsie; her sister, Inez Baughn of Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
