Bridgeport ~Ella Joe Cone Nelms, 85, a retired bookkeeper, went to be with our Lord Monday, February 11, 2013 in Bridgeport.
Graveside service is 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco, Texas. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Pastor Zach Tunnell will officiate.
Joe was born on January 27, 1927 to Robert and Ora (Tipton) Nelms in Cisco. She was united in marriage to Lillard Jordon Nelms on March 15, 1946 in Cisco. Joe was a bookkeeper at First National Bank of Bridgeport before retiring. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Joe was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dimple Cotton and Dot Rosser; and her brother, Robert Cone.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years, L.J. Nelms of Bridgeport; her sons, Robert Nelms and wife Shirley of Carrollton, Steven Nelms and wife Elizabeth of Carrollton, Phillip Nelms and wife Jana of Katy, Joe Wayne and wife Paige of Decatur; 10 grandchildren, Amanda, Jenni, Natalie, Lauren, Josh, Kendall, Kainen, Leslie, Devin, and Kristin; 10 great grandchildren; her sister, Emma Morris of Cisco, other family members and a host of friends.
