Elva Charlene "Char" Setters

Bridgeport~ Elva Charlene “Char” Setters, 81, a retired American Airlines employee, went to be with our Lord on Friday, February 4, 2022 after a long battle with cardiac issues and strokes. Char was at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Char was born on August 22, 1940 in Tribune, Kansas. She attended high school in Brownwood, Texas and graduated with the class of 1958. She moved to Midland, Texas, then to Irving, Texas, to Colleyville in 1981 and finally to Bridgeport in 1998.

Char was the daughter of the late Charles William and Elva Doris (Baldwin) Setters.

Char worked 30+ years for American Airlines in reservations, working her way to Corporate Manager. During those years Char obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. She enjoyed participating in the community, being very active in the ‘Off 380 Players’ (a community theater group), ‘Red Hats’, also volunteering at the Bridgeport Library and local nursing homes. All of this while being involved with her beloved church, The First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport.

Char loved to travel and did so extensively for years with her longtime friend, Pat Jones. She also loved working in her yard and took great pride in keeping it immaculate. Char loved her cats and they loved her, they were her babies.

Char was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Doris Jeanne “Sue Ann” Jones and husband Bill; her brothers, Bill and Bobby Setters; her sister, Sharon Hartman; and her longtime friend, Pat Jones.

Char is survived by her beloved cats, Sonny Boy, Sugar, Kitcat and Sunshine; her sister-in-law, Sandi Setters Sygrove and husband David; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and special friends, Trudy Riddle, Sandy Zeblin, and Butch and Judy Erben.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at The First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport, Texas.
