Alvord: Elvena Berthena Gayler, 100, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, August 5, 2012 in Denton, Texas.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Thursday, August 9th at First Baptist Church in Forestburg with Rev. Bill Kimbley officiating. Interment: Perryman Cemetery in Forestburg, Texas. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Elvena was born on January 6, 1912 in Forestburg, Texas to Elbert N. and Annie B. (Sims) Harrison. She was united in marriage to Robert E. Gaylor on October 16, 1927 in Lawton, Oklahoma and was married 75 years at his death in 2003. Elvena is also preceded in death by her grandson, Mark Lynn Kelton and great-granddaughter, Danielle Kelton.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Jerry Wayne Gayler; 2 daughters, Bobbie Kelton Johnson and Ann Janette "Anjie" Hatfield all of Alvord; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren; other family members and a host of friends.
