Funeral for Emajean Margaret "Jean" Moody, 75, of Paradise was Friday, Jan. 19, 2007 at Hawkins Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Peterman and Rev. Stanley Geisler officiating. Burial was in Paradise Cemetery. She died, Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007 in Fort Worth. Born July 18, 1931 in Albany, Texas to Bernhard Herman Schkade and Alma Minnie Marie Handrick Schkade, she completed her education through the Albany ISD. Upon graduation, she attended Draughn's Business School in Abilene. She married Harold Eugene "Jack" Moody April 1, 1950 in Fort Worth and moved to Paradise where she was a devoted housewife and mother. Jean retired after working many years as the assistant administrator for the Bridgeport Hospital and administrative assistant for the Wackenhut Correction Corporation in Bridgeport. As a faithful, life-long Lutheran, she was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bridgeport. Jean was recognized locally as the first "Lady of the Year" by the Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority for her service and dedication to her community, as well as the first woman to serve on the Paradise ISD board of trustees, a leadership position she held for 9 years. Jean Moody loved and cared for the families & children in Paradise. She was an avid needle worker and quilter, making quilts and hundreds of collectible handmade Christmas ornaments each year to be given to family and friends. Always known for her cheerful laughter, positive outlook and encouraging words, Jean was cherished by all for her love in action. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her sister Evelyn Gosler, and her brother Robert "Bobby" Schkade. She is survived by, her husband of 56 years, Jack; her son Mark Moody and his wife Teresa; three grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, and Bethany Moody; her sister, Alice Remmele; her brother, Marvin Schkade; sisters-in-law, Jannie Meadows and husband Melvin, Betty Livengood and husband Marvin, Carolyn Manning; numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends. Pallbearers were nephews, Bennie Schkade, Bill Boyd, Jarrett Blessing, Jay Foster, Zack Gosler, and Todd Meadows. Honorary pallbearers were Donald Norris, Sam Erwin, Merlin Remmele and Bill Paschall.
