Bridgeport ~ Erik Thomas Nelson, 55, FAA Senior Insurance Examiner, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in Decatur.
Rosary is 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Deacon Mauricio Hernandez will officiate.
Funeral Mass is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at Sixth Street and Lawrence Avenue in Springfield, Illinois (parking lot is on Fifth Street behind the church). Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery immediately after the mass.
Erik was born on September 29, 1960 to James and Veandra “Dee” (Soma) Nelson in Springfield, Illinois. He was united in marriage to Wachiraboon “Noi” Boonyaruttapun on February 16, 2002 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Noi Nelson of Bridgeport; his mother, Veandra “Dee” Nelson of Springfield, Illinois; his sister, Stephanie Nelson Rapier of Wildwood, Missouri; his brothers, Christopher Nelson and wife Karen Szall of Walla Walla, Washington and John Nelson of Mansfield, Missouri; his nieces, Aimee Arseneaux-Payne, Tamara Rowe-Dobson, and Dawn Durfee; his nephew, Andrew Rapier; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and large extended family and friends in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
