Erika was born April 17, 1937 to Friedrich "Fritz" and Lydia Helene (Siedelhofer) Balding in Herne, Germany. At the age of 18 she immigrated alone to the United States on the SS United States.
On March 15, 1959, Erika married Thomas James Dunigan, Jr. and they went forward with love and adventure, building Modern Equipment Co. side-by-side. They were also a well loved "team" at soaring competitions....Tom as the pilot, Erika as the crew chief. Always together for 50 years until Tom's passing. She lived in Hamilton and Bordentown, New Jersey, and spent her last year in Paradise, Texas loving the sky and the longhorns.

ith Erika's kindness and sense of humor, her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren always felt loved and all of us enjoyed time with her. She made friends easily and leaves her family and friends with close ties and loving memories.
Erika was preceded in death by her parents and brother Kurt.
She leaves behind, her son, David Fluhr Dunigan of Bordentown, New Jersey and daughter, Lynda Lee D'Alessandro of Paradise, Texas, as well as their spouses Lisa Rose Dunigan and Nicholas Anthony D'Alessandro, Jr. who were loved as her own children; h
er beloved grandchildren, Susan and Chris Overton of Slidell, Texas,
William and Alyssa Steinmann of Yardley, Pennsylvania, Beth D'Alessandro of Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania;
Erika's awesome great-grandchildren, Bridget and Willie Steele, Christopher and Roy Overton of Slidell, Texas and Charlie Steinmann of Yardley, Pennsylvania.
Erika leaves behind a sister, Rena Munson and her family in California; her sister-in-law Petra Balding, and two nephews in Germany (incl. Godson, Christian.) her Sister and brother- in -law Cathy and Robert "Jay" Dunigan of Allentown, New Jersey as well as her special nephew, Andy and Beth. Her two
dear friends, Neeltje Rennick and Sharon Paris.
