Bridgeport ~ Ernest "Burt" Lancaster, 84, a repairman, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Bridgeport.
Graveside service is 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10th at East Bridgeport Cemetery. No set visitation.
Rev. Dale Webster will officiate.
Burt was born on May 11, 1928 to Jesse and Ettie (Young) Lancaster in Eastland, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Burt was united in marriage to Doris Denton on January 14, 1983 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He retired from S.W. Bell Telephone Co. in 1986 after 34 years of service. Burt worked in Childress, Houston and then ended his career in Fort Worth. He also worked at the local radio station "KBOC" on Sunday mornings to play gospel music.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 sisters.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 29 years, Doris "Denton" Lancaster of Bridgeport; 3 sons, Danny Lancaster of Canyon, Texas, Michael Lancaster and wife Cindy of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Mark Lancaster and wife Shelby of Vega, Texas; his daughter, Tracy Lawson and husband David of Hobbs, New Mexico; his stepsons, Alvin Qualls Jr. of Bridgeport and Daniel Selman of Fort Worth; 6 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; other family members and a host of friends.
