Esther Connally

Graveside service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in Boyd Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Chaplain Ron Ebert will officiate. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Connally, Stacy Connally, Greg Wright, Shane Wright, Rick McKay, Mark Lyon, Kevin Connally, and Terry Don Scott.

Esther was born on July 2, 1910 to Thomas and Ida (Taylor) Martin in Duffau, Texas. She was raised in the Hico area where she met and married James Ralph Connally, also from Hico, on December 22, 1927. They were married for 72 years. Esther was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church.

Speaking to some of the grandchildren, they said "grandma's house was always a fun and safe place to go and stay. There were lots of food and plenty of love for everyone". She was a good mother and homemaker. She will be missed!

Esther was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; her sons, Joe David Connally in 1963, James Ralph Connally, Jr. in 2002; and a granddaughter, Brenda Swindell in 1968. She was also preceded by her parents; 2 brothers, Don Martin and Thomas Martin; and 2 sisters, Kay Welch and Betty Tarno.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Sam Connally and wife Patricia from Boyd, Ricky Connally and wife Dana from Lake Worth, Danny Connally and wife Susan from Lubbock; her daughters, Peggy Perkins from Azle, Collene Scott and husband Joe from Brownwood, Linda Wright from Plains; her sister, Billie Davis and husband Joe from Haslett; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren, 28 great-great grandchildren; 1 great-great-great grandchild; other relatives and a host of friends.
