Esther Mae (Duck) Daffern

Esther Mae Duck Daffern, 95, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016.
Celebration of Life: 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Interment immediately following the service at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home.
Esther was born near Park Springs, Texas on February 7, 1921 to Kinnie Duck and Willie McKay Duck. She graduated from Park Springs High School and attended Decatur Baptist College. She was a baker for nearly 40 years at American Bakeries Company/Taystee Bread.
She married Robert Jack Daffern on May 27, 1949 in Fort Worth, and they raised two children together. Esther’s pride and joy were her children and grandchildren and she enjoyed cooking for them, especially holiday dinners. She also created many beautiful latch hook rugs, enjoyed playing dominos and cards and cheering for local sports teams.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five brothers and one sister.

SURVIVORS: Son, Kenny Daffern; Daughter, Linda Heck (Frank); Grandchildren, Liz Confiliano (Jim), Mark Heck and Valerie Heck; Sister, Louise Duck; Longtime friend and neighbor Judy Talley; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
