CHICO -- Eugene William Bowyer, 77, a retired oilfield pumper passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 in Chico.
Funeral: 3 p.m. Saturday at Morris Memorial Methodist Church. Burial: Chico cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday. Rev. Elaine Bussey will officiate. Pallbearers: Scott Bowyer, Josh Bowyer, Aaron Jones, Deroy Bennett, Victor Monjaraz, and Justin Engleman.
Eugene was born on February 7, 1931 to William Thomas and Helen Louise (Schroeder) Bowyer in Pawnee Rock, Kansas. He married June Eckert on January 25, 1953 in Albert, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Sandra Jones, and infant twin sons, Ronald and Donald Bowyer.
Eugene was a member of the Morris Memorial Methodist Church, a past member of the Chico ISD School Board, a past member of the Chico Volunteer Fire Department, and he was confirmed in the Peace Lutheran Church.
Left behind to cherish his memory is: his wife of 55 1/2 years, June Bowyer; sons, Bill Bowyer and wife Laina of Decatur, Doug Bowyer and wife Bunny of Chico, and Steve Bowyer of Houston; 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Norman Jones of Weatherford.
