NEWARK -- Everett E. Johnston, 88, a retired Director of Research and Development at ESCO Hyraulic Elevators, died Monday, November 20, 2006 at his home in Newark. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Boyd Church of Christ. Burial: Aurora Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Bro. Wayne McCoy will officiate, assisted by Bro. Mel Hutzler.
Everett was born in Hopkins, Texas. He was a lifetime resident of Newark, where he started grade school and graduated from high school. He married Katherine Gargis on October 22, 1942 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents, George and Donnie (Moyer) Johnston, his daughter, Sarah June (Junie) Johnston Crownover, and three sisters.
Survivors: wife of 64 years: Katherine Johnston of Newark; sons: Don Johnston and wife Ruby of Azle, Steve Johnston and wife Angela of Newark; grandchildren: Cylinda Chaisson and husband Andy, Michael Crownover and wife Christy, Joey Johnston, Amanda Johnston; son-in-law: David Crownover of Newark; sister: Imogene Johnston Hunter; and a host of friends.
Pall Bearers will be: James Edgemon, Bill Malone, Dan Hunt, Michael Crownover, Joey Johnston, Drew Chaisson, Andy Chaisson, and Randy Beam. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jack Reed, Hugh Peques, Johnny Wilbanks, LT Childress, and Phillip Pope.
