Chico--- Frances Geneva Dawson, 79, a nurses aide went to be with our Lord on Monday, June 1, 2009 at her home in Chico.

Funeral: 10:30 AM Friday, June 5, 2009 at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Burial: Dawson Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Brother Tom Merritt & Brother Kenneth Wood will be officiating.

Pallbearers: Howard Elkins, Ramsey Meyer, Bobby David Dawson II, Colby Loper, Skipper Martin, Randall Dawson, James Elkins and Jacob Moody. Honorary Pallbearers: Eric Dawson, Josh Dawson, Casey Loper and Alex Meyer.

Frances was born on September 3, 1929, the daughter of John Franklin and Raney (Brunson) Grooms in Madill, Oklahoma. She married Alvin Henry Dawson on February 16, 1947 in Alvord. Frances was a member of the D.A.V. Auxillary and attended the Crafton Baptist Church.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Alvin Henry Dawson; her son, Henry Alvin Dawson; her brother, Jalmer Ray Grooms; and her grandson, Matthew Sloan Dawson.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters: Frances Beebe and husband Paul of Levelland, Fraya Nell Meyer of Chico, Priscilla Loper and husband Topper of Chico, Regina Moody and husband Gene of Crafton; sons: John Dawson and wife Lena of Graham, Bobby David Dawson of Chico; 15 grandchildren: Howard, James, Ramsey, Skipper, Bobby, Eric, Josh, Colby, Casey, Jessica, Jacob, Rachel, Alex, Randal and Timothy; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brother, Doc Eugene Grooms and wife Willine of Chico; sisters: Gussie Marie Groves and husband R.L. of Chico, Nancy Irene Dickinson and husband Benny of Chico, Lillian Vivian Thompson of Bridgeport, Laura Yvonne Burgess and husband Scott of Chico; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends including special friends from the D.A.V. Auxillary.
