CHICO -- Frances Sowell, 72, a retired jewelry store manager, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 in Denver, Colorado.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Chico. Burial: Chico Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Monday.
Frances was born on March 7, 1937 in Midland, Texas, the daughter of Herbert H. and Ina Gladys (Cates) Thornton. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chico, the Chico Library Board, and the Sand Flat Art Guild.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years, Sidney of Chico; sons, Terry Sowell and wife Debbie of Hurst, Danny Sowell and wife Judy of Keller; grandchildren, Erica, Kara, Jake, Kacy, Clayton, Deanna, Trenton; mother, Gladys Thornton; sisters, Ada Beth Clark, Judy Darnell, Fern Foster; brothers, Harry, Roy, Tom, and Dennis Thornton; numerous nieces and nephews.
