DECATUR -- Fred Eugene Brummell, 90, a retired executive vice president of First National Bank of Decatur for 38 years, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in Decatur. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Decatur with the Dr. Tommy O. Brumett and Rev. Johnny Irish officiating. Burial: Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Derrick Boyd, Will Klose, Billy Satterfield, Sgt. Brian Dillard, Gary Prescott, Bobby Wilson, Roy Eaton, Tommy Cunnius. Honorary Pallbearers: Lloyd Jackson, Jimmy Cunnius, George Cunnius, Billy Wylie, W.B. Woodruff, Sam Renshaw, Tommy Gettys, J.E. Carson. Mr. Brummell was born Oct. 20, 1916 in Pittsburg, TX. He married Rowena Moore March 16, 1940 in Decatur. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served with the National Guard 49th Armored Division during WWII. Mr. Brummell was honored in 1979 as Decatur Citizen of the Year and honored by the Decatur City Council as a loyal supporter for over 40 years of the following organizations, Decatur Fire Dept., Wise County Sheriff's Posse, Christmas Cheer, Decatur Chamber of Commerce, Easter Seal Society, Decatur Jaycees and Wise County Reunion Committee. Mr. Brummell served as former Decatur Fire Chief. Mr. Brummell was preceded in death by his brothers, James Jake and Gladwyn C. Brummell. Survivors: Wife of 67 years, Rowina Brummell of Decatur; son, James M. Brummell of Springtown, daughters, Nancy Brummell Boyd and Jan Brummell both of Decatur; grandchildren, Derrick Boyd, Crystal Boyd Klose, Nancy Cates Dillard and Caley Satterfield; great-grandchildren, Kyndal Klose, Emily Boyd, Trey Klose, Brandon Dillard, Ainsley Boyd and Melany Dillard.
