FORT WORTH -- Fred P. Matar, 96, a retired Navy Warrant Officer during WWII and the Korean Conflict, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009 in Fort Worth.
Mass Of Christian Burial: 2 p.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Burial: East Bridgeport Cemetery. Visitation: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Fred Pete Matar was born on June 9, 1913, the son of Pete Abdalla and Maroon (Hassan) Matar, in Bridgeport.
Mr. Matar was preceded in death by his sons, Fred Matar, Jr. and Timothy Matar; brothers, George, Charles, Phillip, and Edward Matar; sisters, Freda Cofer, Faye Elias, and Sadie Lawrence.
Left behind to cherish his memory is: sons, Kenneth Matar and wife Ilona of New Orleans, LA, Joseph and wife Marilyn of Mandeville, LA; 8 grandchildren: Michael, Paul, Joseph, and Anthony Matar, Mary LaFrance, Bobby Seivers, Rhondas Deeks, and Kerry Dauphin; 14 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
